It’s time to pick a pumpkin and swig some fall brews at The Backyard in Richmond, which is having its “Harvest Festival” Saturday through Sunday Oct. 5-6 from 12-8 p.m. The event is free-admission.
The second annual fall-forward fest will feature a Pumpkin Patch, seasonal beer and cider from local purveyors, live music, delicious eats, games for all ages, and a good cause.
The venue will collect donations, as well as jackets and blankets, for Safe Organized Spaces Richmond (SOS), which supports local people facing homelessness and improves neighborhoods via a variety of services. The nonprofit will have an onsite booth during the festival.
“We have a long standing relationship with SOS and donate our leftover food to them every week,” said Co-owner of The Backyard Dominique Kauffman.
Pumpkins will be on sale in The Backyard’s spacious outdoor lot for $10 to $30 based on size, and live entertainment will include the Bay Area All Stars from 2-5 p.m. and DJ Calilfia from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, along with Shangô Beat from 2-5 on Sunday.
Brews and cider will be on hand from Sierra Nevada, Original Pattern Brewing, Far West Cider, Mare Island Brewing Co. and Berryessa Brewing Co., while The Backyard’s food truck will serve up a tasty array of options from its menu, such as burgers, sandwiches, tartines and the like.
The Backyard is an outdoor food truck, beer and wine garden and gathering space located at 205 Cutting Blvd. in Richmond. Questions? Contact the venue at (510) 323-6708.
