Decades ago on Richmond’s shores, Rosie the Riveters built U.S. ships to help win WWII against the Axis of Evil. Today, they are throwing their support behind the “Rosie the Riveter Trust 2024 Gala,” set for Saturday, Oct. 5th from 4:30-9:30 p.m. at the West County Salesian Youth Center & Gymnasium in Richmond.
Seven Rosie the Riveters ranging in age from 98 to 102 will be VIP guests at the Gala, which has the theme, “Our Future is Rosie!” and underscores the critical role tradespeople play in shaping the future of our communities and industries, according to the Trust. National Park rangers will also be in attendance.
The evening will raise funding for the Rosie the Riveter WWII National Historical Park in Richmond and its many community-benefiting programs, situated nearby where the Rosies worked on behalf of their country so long ago. Tickets are $250 per person or $2,500 for a table of ten.
Attendees can expect a gourmet dinner with table wine, live and silent auctions, keynote speaker Tracey Panek, Levi Strauss & Co’s historian, and more. An online auction opens Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m., and closes Saturday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m.
