A pair of Richmond residents who operated a popular Texas-style BBQ restaurant in the city for two years recently relocated the business to Hercules.

Tommy’s BBQ Company is operated by Juan Nunez Jr., the longtime owner of Nunez Tattoo in Richmond, and Tommy Ryan.

Ryan is a longtime chef specializing in Texas style BBQ of brisket, ribs, housemade links and chicken.

Their new restaurant is located at 1611 Sycamore Ave., right next to Home Depot.

“People travel from far away to come try our brisket, which is smoked 12 to 18 hours depending on size.”

“Brisket and ribs are the best sellers,” Nunez said. “People travel from far away to come try our brisket, which is smoked 12 to 18 hours depending on size.”

You have options when dining at Tommy’s BBQ Company: the one-way, two-way and three-way dinners. With the one-way, you get one type of meat and one side, and with the two way you get two meats and two sides, and with the three-way its three meats and three sides.

They also have a VIP customer appreciation promotion, where customers that sign up will receive updates on exclusive events, secret menus and special offers and discounts, along with loyalty rewards.

We asked customer Carl Evans his opinion following a recent meal.

“I ordered brisket, hot links and cole slaw,” he said. “It was tasty, tender and mouth-watering.”

Evans plans to “keep coming back.”

Tommy’s BBQ opens Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 8 p.m. For more information, call (510) 860-7894.
