Western-themed ‘Back-to-School' giveaway to gallop into Richmond

By Kathy Chouteau

The Western-themed “4th Annual Back-to-School Jumpoff” will feature giveaways and fun on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 1-4 p.m. at Bright Futures Growth and Development Center in Richmond.

Bright Futures will team up with FIERCE Advocates, Richmond NAACP and the Black Village Network to celebrate the start of the 2024-2025 school year with backpack giveaways, free new shoes, carnival games, student dance and music performances, community organizations and more.

And it wouldn’t be the Wild West without horseback riding, train rides and tasty eats.

“At this year’s event, we aim to connect families with resources within the local community, provide school supplies, and have some fun as we embark on another year of learning,” said a representative from FIERCE Advocates.

Find the event at Bright Futures Growth and Development Center, 1060 Manor Rd. in Richmond.
