Richmond police conduct high-visibility patrols after fatal shootings

The Richmond Police Department is conducting high-visibility patrols after three people were killed in two fatal shootings that occurred within hours in the city.

Two people were killed and two others injured in a shooting about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, police said.

This morning at 12:42 a.m., a person was fatally shot in the 1300 block of Kelsey Street.

Information on arrests and the motive for the shootings, including whether the incidents were related, were not immediately known. The victims have not been identified.

“RPD Homicide Detectives are actively investigating these homicides and are working to bring the persons responsible to justice,” police stated.
