Dr. Rev. Dr. ‘Ofa Ha’unga is leaving her post at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Richmond after an impactful seven years serving the congregation.

Her final day at St. Luke’s will be June 30. She has been next assigned to lead Methodist Church in Oakland. Her replacement has yet to be announced.

Members of the community bid adieu to the reverend at a Mother’s Day banquet at the church. Rev. Ofa’s tenure brought increased membership to the church, scholarships to college students in the church, and critical infrastructure improvements, including repairs on sanctuary beams and installation of security cameras. Multimedia tools were also installed in the church, enabling parishioners to Zoom into services.

“I am very grateful for the work of all members of St. Luke’s UMC,” the Rev. Ofa said, referring to their ongoing good deeds in the community.

The Rev. Ofa noted St. Luke’s UMC is not only an historical landmark in the city, but also a source of light for its parishioners.
