Below is an overview of significant service activity provided by RPD patrol officers during their scheduled shifts. Note that activity shared in these segments are provided only as an overview, and do not reflect the entirety of service calls and reports taken throughout each shift.
1/16 – POSSESSION OF AN EMBEZZLED VEHICLE – RECOVERY
Officers responded to a Flock notification for a stolen vehicle in the area. A records check confirmed the vehicle to be reported stolen. Officers located the vehicle and observed the solo occupant exit the vehicle. The suspect was quickly apprehended and was arrested without incident. #0530
1/17 – HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
Officers responded to the 2000 block of Gomer Dr for a report of an unknow circumstance. Upon arrival, officers located the victim inside a residence suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition where he was later pronounced deceased.
RPD homicide detectives responded to assume the investigation. During the course of their investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspect vehicle by utilizing our automated license plate reader system, Flock Safety, which led to the suspect’s arrest. #0562
1/17 – ROBBERY
Officers responded to the 200 block of 2nd St for a report of a robbery. Officers learned the victim was walking when he was approached by the suspect. The suspect demanded the victim’s backpack and forcefully removed it from the victim’s back. Bystanders pointed out the suspect who was nearby. The suspect was detained without incident and was found to still be in possession of the victim’s property. The suspect was arrested and booked into the RPD Jail without incident. #0567
1/19 – THEFT
Officers responded to a store in the 4500 block of Macdonald Ave for a report of a person detained for theft. Officers learned the suspect was stopped by the store’s loss prevention representative after attempting to leave the store without paying for merchandise. The suspect was placed under arrest without incident. #0617
1/19 – ROBBERY
Officers responded to the 4300 block of Macdonald Ave for a report of a robbery. The victim stated he was returning to his vehicle after visiting the bank when the suspect snatched his purse. The suspect ran off to a waiting vehicle and fled. Officers conducted an area check with negative results. #0618
1/19 – ROBBERY
Officers responded to the area of San Pablo Ave and Roosevelt Ave for a report of a robbery. Officers learned the victim was stopped at a red light after visiting a nearby bank when the suspect shattered the victim’s window and took the victim’s purse from the passenger seat. The suspect ran off to a waiting vehicle and fled. Officers conducted an area check with negative results #0625
1/20 – HOME INVASION ROBBERY
Officers responded to the 600 block of Payne Dr for a report of a home invasion robbery. Officers learned the suspects entered the residence through the rear door. One suspect held the occupants of the residence at gunpoint while a second suspect demanded cash. The suspects ran to a waiting vehicle and fled prior to officers’ arrival. #0657
1/20 – ARMED ROBBERY
Officers responded to the 1700 block of Hellings Ave for a report of a robbery. The victim was walking after parking his vehicle when he was approached by two suspects. The suspects brandished a firearm and demanded the victim’s money. The suspect’s fled prior to officers’ arrival. Officers conducted an area check with negative results. #0662
