Below is an overview of significant service activity provided by RPD patrol officers during their scheduled shifts. Please note that activity shared in these segments are provided only as an overview, and do not reflect the entirety of service calls and reports taken throughout each shift.
 
11/13 – MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS
 
Officers responded to the overpass near Central/580 for a subject suffering from a mental health crisis threatening to jump. The Richmond Fire Department and CHP assisted RPD with road closures. Officers contacted the subject and utilized their Crisis Negotiations Team skills until the subject agreed to come down. #10110
 
11/15 – POSSESION OF STOLEN VEHICLE
 
Officers on routine patrol observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of Pennsylvania Ave and 5th St. A records check revealed the vehicle was reported stolen. The suspect was arrested without incident. #10215
 
11/16 – POSESSION OF STOLEN VEHICLE/WARRANT ARREST
 
Officers received a Flock notification for a stolen vehicle in the area. Officers conducted a traffic stop and a records check revealed the driver of the vehicle had an outstanding warrant. The suspect was arrested without incident. #10244
 
11/16 – COMMERCIAL BURGLARY
 
Officers responded to Hilltop Mall for a report of individuals trespassing. Upon arrival, officers located two suspects actively cutting and stripping wires from the ceiling. The two suspects were arrested without incident. #10255
 
11/16 – DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM
 
Officers responded to the 200 block of Curry St for a report of a single gunshot being heard. Officers arrived on scene and contacted two victims. The victims reported the suspect approached their vehicle and pointed a firearm and fired one round as he walked away. No victims were injured during this incident. While contacting the victims, officers observed the suspect enter a nearby residence and established a perimeter. The suspect was arrested without incident. #10256
 
11/17 – ARMED ROBBERY
 
Officers responded to the 300 block of S. 23rd St for a report of an attempted armed robbery. The victim was delivering an order to the suspect when the suspect attempted to forcibly take the victim’s cellphone. The suspect then brandished a firearm and the victim ran to a safe area to call police. A perimeter was established and the suspect was arrested without incident. #10283
 
11/18 – SIDESHOW ACTIVITY
 
Officers responded to the intersection of Blume Dr and Klose Way for sideshow activity involving approximately 100 vehicles. Officers were able to disperse the vehicles without incident.
 
11/18 – CARJACKING
 
Officers responded to the 1200 block of Chanslor Ave for a report of a carjacking. The victim advised she received a motion detection notification and went outside to investigate. The victim confronted the suspect. The suspect fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle prior to officers’ arrival. #10299
 
11/18 – DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM
 
Officers responded to the 1900 block of Pennsylvania Ave to investigate a ShotSpotter activation registering 6 rounds. Upon arrival officers located expended casings strewn about the street near 19th St and Hill Ave. A neighborhood canvass for damaged vehicles or houses yielded negative results. #10311
 
11/18 – DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
 
Officers were investigating a separate incident when the suspect crashed into the rear of a parked patrol vehicle. Fortunately, the officer was not injured. The driver exhibited symptoms of intoxication, and a DUI investigation was conducted. The suspect was determined to have been driving under the influence with a BAC of .19%, more than double the legal limit. The suspect was arrested without incident. #10317
 
11/19 – SHOOTING INVESTIGATION
 
Officers responded to 3rd St & Barrett Ave on a report of a shooting. Officers arrived and located the victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to a hospital in stable condition. RPD detectives responded to the scene to assume the investigation. #10332
 
11/19 – ARMED ROBBERY
 
Officers responded to the 3400 block of Maricopa Ave for a report of an armed robbery. The victim advised the suspect approached him and presented a firearm and took the victim’s wallet and gold chain. The area was checked and the suspect was not located. #10307
 
11/19 – CARJACKING
 
Officers responded to 2nd St and Ohio Ave for a report of a carjacking. The victim was rushed by two suspects after parking his vehicle. One suspect held the victim while a second suspect pointed a firearm at victim. The suspects fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. #10342
