When Armistice Brewing Company opens a second location in downtown Napa soon, it will be bringing some Richmond eats along for the ride.
Alex Zobel, who runs the Richmond brewery with her brother, Gregory, confirmed to the Richmond Standard that El Garage will be running Armistice’s Napa kitchen when it opens. El Garage is famed for its delicious quesabirria tacos that spurred its meteoric rise from a garage/driveway to a brick-and-mortar restaurant in downtown Richmond.
Armistice’s Marina Bay location and El Garage have deep roots. Prior to the Montano family swinging open the doors to El Garage, Viviana Montano worked as one of Armistice’s inaugural employees. Likewise, El Garage had frequent pop-up appearances at the brewery before opening its downtown restaurant. During these pop-ups, Armistice said that they collaborated with El Garage on a popular mangonada-inspired smoothie ale, “Feliz Sabado.”
Ultimately, Armistice—which hopes to open its Napa location before summer’s end and the harvest rush—shares similar roots with El Garage as a family owned and operated business. Armistice’s second taproom will be located at 1040 Clinton Street in Napa.
“This partnership makes a lot of sense,” said Gregory Zobel. “We’re already frequent collaborators. We’re both family owned and operated. We both got started in Richmond, and nothing pairs better than beer and quesabirria.”
