George Cole & His Orchestra will embark on a musical residency at the Baltic Kiss, “Boardwalk at the Baltic,” starting Sun., April 2 from 7-9 p.m. and continuing on Sundays thereafter. There is a $15 cover and a two drink minimum.
Named after the popular HBO series Boardwalk Empire—set in the Prohibition era—Boardwalk at the Baltic will feature George Cole & His Orchestra performing Great American Songbook classics from 1900 through the 1940s, as well as some of Cole’s original works. The orchestra leader is encouraging people to get into the spirit of the songs by donning vintage attire for the show.
Cole, a Richmond native, has some great musical chops as he not only “toured extensively with mandolinist David Grisman and was jazz legend Keely Smith’s duet partner for her last San Francisco run,” but also bears the distinction of serving as teacher and mentor to Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt of Green Day (Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members).
The Baltic Kiss is a dining and music venue located at 135 Park Place in Point Richmond. Learn more about Boardwalk at the Baltic here.
