Richmond police are asking for the community to be on the lookout for a French Bulldog named Kalua that was stolen at gunpoint on Tuesday.

The victim told police he was seated in his parked vehicle in the 4500 block of Barrett Avenue, near the I-80 underpass, when a vehicle pulled up and two suspects exited armed with handguns, according to police

The suspects brandished their firearms and demanded that the victim hand over Kalua, which he did in fear for his safety and the safety of his passenger. The suspects then demanded that the victim and passenger get out of his vehicle, and after they did, one of the suspects tried to drive off in the vehicle, but it stalled and the suspects couldn’t get it restarted, police said. The suspects then abandoned the victim’s vehicle but fled with Kalua.

Kalua is described as a 1-year-old male French Bulldog with distinctive red masses near the tear ducts of his eyes. He also has a scar on the top of his front paw and is not neutered, police said.

“The victim was thankful not to be harmed but desperately wants his beloved pet back,” police said.
