De La Tierra, a live poetry and open mic event honoring Latinx Heritage Month, will take place Wed., Sept. 28 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts.
The event will be hosted by Richmond poet laureate David Flores and will feature guest poet/MC Somos One.
Latinx Heritage Month, which is known nationally as National Hispanic Heritage Month, spans from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 and celebrates “the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America,” per the U.S. government.
The East Bay Center for the Performing Arts is located at 339 11th St. in Richmond. The event is sponsored by both the center and the Richmond Arts & Culture Commission.
