Richmond police have identified 48-year-old Gregory Bonner Jr. of Oakland as the man who has been charged with fatally shooting 33-year-old Jeremy Griego of Oakland in Southside Park on Saturday.

Bonner is accused of shooting Griego at about 2:45 p.m. at the Richmond park located between 5th Street and 6th Street near Virginia Avenue and Highway 580, police said.

Detectives located video of a gray Pontiac four door sedan arriving at the park and showing Griego exiting the vehicle with Bonner. They walked into the park and were there for a brief amount of time before an altercation began and the shooting occurred, police said.

The investigation led detectives to an RV encampment in the 700 block of 71st St. in Oakland, where they found the vehicle involved and Bonner behind the wheel of that vehicle.

“Additional video evidence and witness statements showed there had been an ongoing argument between the two in the days leading up to the homicide,” police said.

Bonner was arrested Monday for the murder. The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office subsequently charged Bonner with one count of murder with malice aforethought and an enhancement of “personal and intentional discharge of a firearm which caused great bodily injury.”
