The SS Red Oak Victory, a WWII Victory ship berthed on Richmond’s waterfront, has announced the movie lineup for its 2022 Home Front Film Festival. Scheduled throughout this summer and fall, the four films span the gamut from some created during the ship’s wartime era, to modern day selections.
Moviegoers can board the ship at 6:30 p.m., with all films starting at 7 p.m. on designated Thursday evenings for a singular viewing experience. Admission to the films is free, however a $10 donation is suggested.
The 2022 Home Front Film Festival schedule is: July 14: Casablanca (1942); September 15: Windtalkers (2002) Rated R; October 27: Whisky Galore (2016); and December 15: It’s a Wonderful Life (1946).
The SS Red Oak Victory is located at Shipyard No. 3, 1337 Canal Blvd, Berth 5, in Richmond. Ample parking is available in front of the ship. Visitors should note that it is not ADA accessible and they will be climbing a gangway with 40 stairs and railings to board it, as well as steep steps on the ship.
