A 20-year-old Richmond woman has been charged with felony assault in connection with an alleged attack on two students in a bathroom at El Cerrito High School, according to police.

El Cerrito police said they became aware of the attack on Tuesday, April 19.

“One victim was punched and kicked several times in the head and body while on the ground,” police said. “The victim was also [dragged] around the bathroom by her hair amonst a crowd of onloockers.”

One of the suspects involved in the attack was identified as a current El Cerrito High student. The second suspect was determined to be an adult relative of the juvenile suspect, police said.

Detectives identified the adult suspect as Liliana Gonzalez-Lopez, who is not a student at the school. A warrant was issued for her arrest. Gonzalez-Lopez surrendered on June 6 at the El Cerrito Police Department, police said. The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s office subsequently filed felony assault charges.
