The Richmond Admirals youth baseball teams prevailed at the 680 Diablo League championship games May 21-22 in Orinda, ultimately sweeping the series in three age brackets, including 9 and under, 10 and under and 12 and under.
Teams from Danville, Fremont, Lafayette, Martinez, Moraga, Orinda, Piedmont, Pleasant Hill, San Ramon, Tara Hills/Richmond and Walnut Creek compete in the 680 Diablo League, which according to team representative Alexandra Stockwell, “is the highest level of local play.”
Stockwell said that the participating member teams competed in “an intense double elimination championship tournament,” with all three Richmond Admirals teams dominating to win in their respective age groups.
Founded a decade ago, the 680 Diablo League consists of “interlocking baseball leagues” throughout the East Bay, with 70 teams in seven divisions made up of players ages 9 to 14 years old, per its website. The teams compete against each other during the spring, culminating in the league playoffs and championships. The Richmond Admirals’ home field is Tara Hills Field at 2456 Dolan Way.
