A man was allegedly cited for illegal dumping after being caught in the act on camera, according to the Richmond Police Department.
RPD recently received reports of illegal trash dumping in the city’s Central District.
“A cognizant city employee checked to see if the illegal dumping had been caught on camera and, sure enough, the dumping bandit had been caught red-handed,” police said.
Following an investigation, the suspect was identified, located and issued an arrest citation, police said.
“This citation would not have been possible without our solid partnerships throughout our city and our community,” police said, noting the city has a zero-tolerance approach to illegal dumping and other activities that affect quality of life.
The RPD asks the public to report any suspicious activity with as much detailed information as is safely possible to attain, including license plate, car description, suspect description etc. For in-progress incidents, contact RPD at (510) 233-1214 or 911 in the event of an emergency.
