A home in the 2300 block of Garvin Avenue suffered extensive damage in a fire Sunday morning, according to fire officials.
The fire was reported just before 8 a.m. and crews arrived to find the back half of a large two-story residence “well involved,” according to Richmond Firefighters Local 188, the union representing city firefighters. Local 188 posted video footage from the firefight on social media.
“Arriving crews wasted no time as they got hose lines in place and searched the residence to ensure all occupants were out,” Local 188 said. “As engine companies were getting the flames under control, T64 went to the roof to perform vertical ventilation. Due to the hard work of 6 engine companies and 2 truck companies, the flames were brought under control within 30 minutes.”
Further details, including cause of the fire, weren’t immediately available.
