AC Transit drops mask mandate

AC Transit service changes effective Dec. 3

Starting today, AC Transit no longer requires that riders wear a mask on its buses.

BART is also allowing masks to be optional.

Transit agencies throughout the nation along with airports and airlines are dropping their mask policies after a Florida judge struck down the federal mask mandate for public transit.

Transit agenccies still strongly encourages mask wearing, per Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) guidance.

Dispensers at the entrances of each AC Transit bus will continue to offer complimentary, disposable face masks and hand sanitizer to riders.
