When it comes to spring cleaning in Richmond, it isn’t just for houses—it’s for neighborhoods too. To that end, the City Manager’s Office—Economic Development, Richmond Love Your Block and Public Works are seeking volunteers to pitch in on the “Nystrom Village Spring Clean-Up Event” Sat. April 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

“Activities will include litter pick-up, weed control and general cleaning,” according to event organizers.

Volunteers will meet in the parking lot at 250 South 13th St., where everyone will sign-in and receive instructions. Organizers suggest wearing clothes “that you don’t mind getting dirty,” as well as closed-toe shoes. Those helping out with the clean-up will receive free lunch, snacks, T-shirts, gloves, masks and tools for the event activities, per organizers.

Restrooms are available at the Nystrom Community Center and there is plenty of free street parking along nearby streets.
