Chef Victor Viera—owner of Richmond’s Golden Gate Bistro and the former head chef at Terrapin Crossroads—is launching a second location in the form of a food truck.
The Grand Opening for “Golden Gate Bistro Food Truck” will kick off Mon., March 28 at 601 23rd St. in Richmond. The food truck will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., while live “Dead head” style music by Scott Guberman will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day. Plenty of parking is available at the location.
According to Chef Viera, the new food truck will feature American and Italian cuisine “similar but not the same” as the Golden Gate Bistro, with some of its popular menu items on hand, i.e., fried chicken sandwiches, cheeseburgers, fish tacos and breakfast burritos/sandwiches. Customers will have the option of placing their orders online.
Chef Viera took a chance by launching his bistro at the advent of the pandemic and, based on its success, is doubling down by unveiling his food truck. “People love our food and are really supporting us every day,” he said, adding that it “makes me want to open more places.”
As for the bistro, the chef said he wants to see it expand to “all the cities in the Bay Area” that he can, including Oakland and Marin County.
The chef’s plan is to have the food truck permanently parked at the 23rd St. location, for which he has a five-year lease (for now). He said the food truck will be “kind of like a restaurant experience” with plenty of tables, parking and hopefully live music.
As of its Grand Opening date, the Golden Gate Bistro Food Truck will be parked at at 601 23rd St. in Richmond and will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. For those wanting to check out the food truck’s namesake, the Golden Gate Bistro, it’s located at 803 Wright Ave, Suite 101, in Richmond and features live music.
