Local truck and car clubs are set to shower love on a Richmond flower business on Saturday, Feb. 12, as part of an annual event ahead of Valentine’s Day.
Last year, as reported in the Standard, beautiful trucks and cars parked up and down Macdonald Avenue near DeJean Middle School as part of a heartfelt effort to give love to local small business Juanita’s Flower Shop, located at 3407 Macdonald Ave. just across the street from the school.
Organizer Johnathan Ramirez, a Richmond resident and president of the Algoleve Bay Area Truck Club, recently reached out to inform the Standard the annual event will happen again this year from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Saturday before Valentine’s Day.
The event is set to include free food, music and raffles. Attendees are asked to wear masks and to cease from revving up their cars or burning out.
Ramirez told us last year that local truck and car clubs like to encourage community support for local businesses.
“What we organized was the truck and car clubs from Richmond and around the Bay Area to become a flash mob and help buy things off the shelves at Juanita’s Flower Shop here in Richmond,” he said.
