Police are searching for a vehicle suspected to have been involved in a mid-afternoon shooting Wednesday near the intersection of S. 55th and School streets, which is within a few blocks of Stege Elementary School in Richmond.
El Cerrito police said they responded to the intersection on a report of shots fired just before 1 p.m. and located shell casings in the roadway and broken glass, but no victims or suspects.
While investigators processed the scene, a Richmond police officer located the victim’s vehicle, as well as the victim, in Richmond. The victim described the shooting as stemming from road rage.
“Officers interviewed the victim and learned that the suspect in this case became angry after a traffic maneuver and escalated a minor conflict into violent action,” police said. “The victim was not injured from this incident and only suffered damage to his vehicle.”
Police are now trying to locate the suspect vehicle, a black PT Cruiser, that was captured on video. Anyone with information or video in regard to this incident is asked to contact Det. H. Rivera at (510) 215-4422 or Acting Sgt. G. Tang (510) 215-4446.
