Richmond police released a video of the suspect vehicle connected to a double-shooting in North Richmond that claimed the life of 51-year-old Shedrick Lamar Williams, a beloved local baseball coach, on June 3. Police hope the public can help them identify and locate the vehicle and suspects.
Williams and a second victim were shot at about 1:38 p.m. in the 1400 block of Kelsey Street, near the Shields Reid Community Center. Williams was airlifted to a local hospital in critical condition, while the other victim was transported to a hospital with injuries not considered life threatening, police said. Williams succumbed to his injuries two days later, police said.
The homicide took a toll on the North Richmond community. Several days after his death, Williams was mourned and remembered during a community walk promoting safety for neighborhood children.
The RPD aims bring those responsible for Williams’ murder to justice.
“Investigators have determined that the vehicle associated to this homicide is a white Honda Accord Sport, 4-door sedan, between model years 2018 – 2020,” police said. “We are seeking additional witnesses who may have seen this vehicle (pictured) at the time of this incident.”
