The California Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help in its investigation into a hit-and-run collision that killed a pedestrian on Richmond Parkway north of Gertrude Avenue early Saturday.

CHP officers responded to the scene at 5:43 a.m. on a report of a person lying in the southbound side of the parkway.

“Officers arrived at the scene and determined this was a hit and run crash with a fatality,” the CHP said. “It is suspected the crash occurred early in the morning hours, or the night before.”

The victim’s identity wasn’t immediately known. The CHP said minimal evidence was located at the scene and is asking any witnesses or anyone with information to contact Oakland CHP at (510) 457-2875.
