An arrest was made after two children were left unattended for over an hour in a car in Richmond on Friday, Aug. 27. At the time, the thermal imaging temperature in the car’s interior was 118 degrees, Richmond police Capt. Al Walle reported.

Police responded to the incident just after 3 p.m. in the 2900 block of Hilltop Mall Road. The children were sweating profusely and were medically cleared at the scene, Walle said.

“The children’s guardian was arrested for child endangerment and the children were released to Child Protective Services,” he added.

The guardian’s identity wasn’t immediately known.
