An “outdoor sweep” of Richmond’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Park is in the works for Sat., Sept. 4 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and volunteers are needed to get the job done.
Volunteers will not only pitch-in to help clean up trash at the park, but also will provide valuable input on outdoor programming for local residents. Supplies like lunch, gloves, tools, sanitizer, etc. will be available, as will restrooms.
“Please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty, as well as closed-toe shoes,” suggested event organizers.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Park is located at Harbour Way S. & Virginia Ave. in Richmond. Volunteers can meet at the bleachers inside the park where canopies will be set up. Parking is available in a small parking lot off of Harbour Way South; additional parking spots are available on Virginia Avenue between 12th Street and Marina Way South, as well as on surrounding streets.
The event is hosted by the City of Richmond Community Services Department, Parks & Landscaping Division, Richmond SOL, Richmond College Prep School, Richmond Love Your Block and the Richmond Tool Library.
