Got Goals!, a local youth and family organization, will be distributing 200 brand-new backpacks stuffed with school supplies at the community Job Expo at Nicholl Park on Saturday, August 28. The event is currently scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The backpacks were supplied by local organization GO West Contra Costa as part of their #FreshStart Backpack Drive, sponsored by the S.H. Cowell Foundation, the Hercules, Rodeo, and Crockett Rotary, and community volunteer, Tom Panas. In total, 1,000 backpacks have been distributed throughout the community as part of this effort.
“Many families still need our help to get through this pandemic,” shared Got Goals! founder and Richmond resident Audra Golddie Williams. “It’s important that we as a community help out and contribute in whatever way we can.”
Got Goals! partners with local schools and community organizations to offer youth mentorship programming and support for families. Since 2007, Got Goals! has worked with more than 1,900 youth in West Contra Costa.
