Vallejo police are searching for a Richmond man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy in their city on Wednesday, July 14.

An arrest warrant charges Demark Anthony Bernstine, 28, of Richmond, with the fatal shooting that occurred in the 200 block of Maine Street in South Vallejo, police said.
At the scene of the homicide, numerous people were seen running immediately after the shooting, and several people were reportedly armed with handguns. In addition, two armed and uniformed security guards responded to the shooting and were shot at by one or more suspects, police said. One of the security guards returned fire, but it doesn’t appear that anyone was struck by the guard’s gunfire.
The 15-year-old was declared dead at the scene and no other injuries were reported. The juvenile’s identity has not been released.
On Tuesday, an arrest warrant was issued charging Bernstine with the juvenile’s murder. Vallejo police are now searching for Bernstine, who “should be considered armed and dangerous and is currently on parole after being convicted of an attempted murder in Contra Costa County,” police said.
Anyone with information about Bernstine’s whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Craig Long at (707) 648-4514 or Detective Brian Murphy at (707) 648-7147.
