Moving Forward is accepting applications for its Scholarship Program from Richmond youth ages 17-29 years old who’ve been accepted to a two or four-year college or technical school, or who are currently enrolled in one. Scholarship opportunities include a $500 Humanitarian Award, a $1,000 Main Grant and a $1,500 Community Leader Award. Applications are due July 15, 2021.
A Richmond-based, fiscally sponsored project of Urban Tilth, Moving Forward hosts backpack giveaways, community activities and an annual We Run Richmond 5K event, which funds its Scholarship Program.
“We see our project and especially our scholarship program as a long-term investment in our community,” said Project Manager Anselmo Ramirez. “As we plant seeds to raise and train, the Moving Forward team gets stronger, extending our reach and positively impacting many lives along the way.”
To qualify for the scholarships, applicants must: have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or above; be accepted to a two or four-year college or technical school, or currently be enrolled (a copy of the acceptance letter or proof of enrollment required); be between the ages of 17-29 years old; participate in a minimum of two Moving Forward community events such as a community clean-up, community hike or a combination of both (click here for event info); demonstrate involvement in the community through community service; and include a minimum of one letter of recommendation.
