Hercules police seized two unregistered firearms with ghost gun frames and arrested a 20-year-old man from Richmond and 23-year-old man from Rodeo during a traffic stop early Monday.

At 1:03 a.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on a 2001 Toyota Camry on Willow Avenue and Hawthorne Drive and noted the vehicle did not immediately yield, going about 100 yard before stopping, police said. The passenger began to exit the vehicle and complied when told to get back inside.

The behavior of the occupants prompted a high-risk traffic stop during which the 20-year-old driver from Richmond yelled at the officers while declining to follow their commands, police said.

Inside the vehicle, officers say they found a Glock 34 9mm semi-auto pistol (with ghost gun frame) that had a loaded 24 round high-capacity magazine, along with a loaded Glock 19x 9mm semi-auto pistol (with ghost gun frame) that had a loaded 30 round high-capacity magazine. In addition, an unloaded 17 round high capacity 9mm pistol magazine was also found in the car.

“The driver had four live 9mm rounds in his pants pockets and a box of 9mm ball ammo was found inside the Camry,” police said. “The passenger also had one live 9mm round in his pants pocket.”

The driver was on probation and found to have a suspended driver’s license. Both the driver and passenger, whose identities were not immediately available, were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
