A walk-in vaccine clinic opened today at Veterans Memorial Hall in Richmond, according to Contra Costa Health Services.
It’s one of several pop-up walk-in clinics opening countywide in the coming weeks, part of a partnership between the County and California Office of Emergency Services.
About 500-700 vaccinations a day can be given at each walk-in site, all of which open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Currently, clinics are open at Veterans Memorial Hall, 968 23rd St., and Antioch Community Center, 4703 Lone Tree Way. Those clinics will remain open daily through April 25.
From April 26 through May 2, pop-up clinics will open at John Missionary Baptist Church, North Campus, 29 8th St., in Richmond; and also at Albert D. Seeno Jr. Pittsburg Youth Development Center, 1001 Stoneman Ave. in Pittsburg.
From May 3-6, walk-in clinics will open at St. John Missionary Baptist Church – South Campus, at 662 S. 52nd St. in Richmond; and also at Meadow Homes Elementary School at 1371 Detroit Ave. in Concord.
The walk-in clinics are planned for areas hardest hit by COVID-19, such as Richmond.
Meanwhile, the County has launched a new feature allowing community members to directly book appointments on its website. Previously, people had to fill out an online form which staff reviewed manually.
“We want everyone to get vaccinated as quickly and conveniently as possible. That’s why we are opening walk-in vaccination clinics in our hardest hit communities, especially communities of color. This effort helps us close the vaccine equity gap,” said Supervisor John Gioia, whose district includes Richmond and San Pablo, two of the cities with the highest rates of COVID-19.
