The number of bicycle trips across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge pedestrian-cycling path — which opened on Nov. 16, 2019 — has eclipsed the 100,000 mark.
Every Monday morning, bicycle trips recorded across the bridge are updated on this website. As of today, the count shows 100,236 bicycle trips, a milestone noted by Bruce Beyaert, chair of the Trails for Richmond Action Committee (TRAC).
On a weekday, the bridge trail sees an average of 97 bicycle trips. On a weekend day, it see on average 316 trips.
The path, which serves as a critical link in the San Francisco Bay Trail, runs in the westbound stretch of the bridge and is separated from vehicle traffic by a moveable barrier. On the Richmond side of the bridge, the path begins at Tewksbury Avenue and Castro Street in Point Richmond and then runs along I-580 West across the bay to San Rafael, where it can be accessed at East Francisco Boulevard and Main Street.
