The Richmond Police Activities League (RPAL) will be spreading seasonal cheer this week when they team up with partners to host the “Richmond Xmas Toy Giveaway” and gift 1,000 toys to local youth.
Set for Thursday, Dec. 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at RPAL, 2200 Macdonald Ave. in Richmond, the event will feature a drive-thru toy distribution for all ages where toys will be displayed and delivered to each car via volunteers. Toys will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, (sign-ups not necessary) and residents are asked to wear masks and stay inside their cars at all times.
Those wanting to support the effort can donate toys at RPAL by Wednesday, Dec. 23. Sample ideas from the organization include: children’s books, coloring books, crayons/markers, toy cars/trucks, etc. for 0-6 year olds; sports equipment, arts & crafts, board games and the like for the 7-12 set; and video games, backpacks, gift cards, team memorabilia, etc. for 13-16 year olds. See the flier for many more toy ideas.
