A distraught man threatened to jump into traffic from the Central Avenue overpass on Interstate Highway 580 in Richmond Thursday morning, police said. The incident stopped traffic in the westbound lanes and closed the Central exit at 9:35 a.m.
“Richmond police officers responded to a distraught man hanging off the ledge of the I-580 and Central Ave overpass while making threats to jump into traffic,” police said. “Officers on scene quickly went into crisis intervention mode and persuaded the man safely off the ledge.”
No one was injured as a result of the incident, police said.
