Travis Credit Union is launching two interactive, virtual events in December to help educate youth about financial aid opportunities for postsecondary education, selecting a school and prepping for campus life and admissions. Also exciting? They’re free to join.
Set for Dec. 3 and Dec. 10, the “Finance U” events “will include special guests and giveaways to engage youth interested in higher education after high school,” per Travis Credit Union in a statement. Youth ages 13-21 who register for the event will be entered into a drawing to win a new Chromebook.
“By promoting a postsecondary education after high school, we are seeking to help youth avoid common financial vulnerabilities and build economic stability for themselves and the communities in which they live,” said Travis Credit Union President & CEO Barry Nelson.
Travis Credit Union hosts the Finance U events in collaboration with Sacramento Area Youth Speaks (SAYS), the California Student Aid Commission, Immigrants Rising, the #WeBelonginCollege campaign and Personal Statement, a film that features the events’ keynote speaker, Karoline Jimenez.
Registrants under the age of 18 require a parent’s permission to register. Adults may participate too. To register for a Finance U event, or to learn more, click here.
