Mountain Mike’s Pizza opened Tuesday at a new location at 2171 Meeker Ave. in Richmond, near I-580 and the CVS, the company announced in a statement.
The pizza chain is taking over the space formerly occupied by Botto Bistro, which was owned by the chef who became famous for vocal criticisms of online reviewer Yelp!
Mountain Mike’s Pizza is “known for its legendary crispy, curly pepperoni, Mountain-sized pizzas and dough made fresh daily for over 40 years,” the company states.
The new Richmond location is owned by franchisees Navdeep Grewal, Kuldip Sandhu and Bhimsen Khadka, who own three Mountain Mike’s locations in Northern California.
The owners say the 1,500 square foot restaurant will strictly adhere to public health guidelines, with its dining room closed until Contra Costa County moves out of the “purple tier” in the state’s COVID-19 reopening process. When indoor dining is allowed again, Mountain Mike’s will invite customers to experience a new, updated design and big screens throughout the dining room. The space will be set up to host families, sports teams, group fundraising events and celebrations.
“Contemporary design elements include exposed wood and shiplap, modern light fixtures, picturesque mountainscape murals and local accents such as a nostalgic map of Richmond,” the company states.
“We’re proud to continue growing Mountain Mike’s Pizza in Northern California with the addition of our new Richmond location, which is a prime example of the brand’s promise to provide great pizza in a relaxed, fun environment,” said Khadka. “Although we’re not open at full capacity, we’re still proud to serve up our signature pizzas to the Richmond community in the safest way possible. We are committed to serving our neighbors and look forward to providing a comfortable place for our new and existing fans to receive the ultimate pizza experience for many years to come.”
Mountain Mike’s offers carry-out and contactless delivery. Orders may also be placed through any of Mountain Mike’s third-party delivery partners, DoorDash, Grubhub, Uber Eats and Postmates.
