A person was fatally shot in the 700 block of Barrett Avenue this afternoon, police said.
Just before 3 p.m., officers responded to a report of a fight in the 700 block of Barrett Avenue, Richmond police Capt. Al Walle said. Shortly thereafter, a ShotSpotter gunshot detection activation alerted police to 24 rounds being fired at the same location, Walle said.
“Officers located a gunshot wound victim at the scene and he died while being transported to an air ambulance landing pad,” Walle said.
Further details, such as motive, suspects or identity of the victim, were immediately available.
