A 50-year-old man was killed and a 46-year-old woman injured in a shooting in Richmond on Sunday, police said.
Officers responded to a ShotSputter gun detection activation in the 1500 bock of Chanslor Ave. at about 10:30 p.m., where they found 50-year-old Maurice Jackson in his vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds, Richmond police Sgt. Aaron Pomeroy said.
The second victim, determined to be a passenger in the vehicle, was found at a local residence also suffering from gunshot wounds, Pomeroy said.
Jackson died from his injuries at a local trauma center, while the woman is in serious but stable condition at a hospital.
“During the course of the investigation, detectives learned the suspect(s) arrived in a vehicle, parked and ambushed the victims as they were driving to a residence in the neighborhood,” Pomeroy said in a police statement.
No arrests have been announced in the case, which marks the 10th homicide in Richmond in 2020.
