Richmond police are searching for two suspects in connection with a the shooting of a teenager at Wendell Park Wednesday.

Officers responded to the park at about 5:13 p.m. on a report of a shooting, Richmond police Capt. Al Walle said.

“A teenager was playing soccer in the park when he was approached by two men who asked him if he had a problem and then shot him,” Walle said.

The victim was transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition. The suspects fled after the shooting north on 24th Street and no arrests have been reported.

The shooter was described as a Hispanic male, 18-20 years old, 5-5, 200 pounds, short black straight hair, round face, brown eyes, full dark beard, and wearing all black clothing, Walle said. The second suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 18-20 years old, 5-5, thin build, pale complexion, wearing all black clothing and a face mask.

About two hours before this shooting, police responded to a separate shooting in the 500 bock of Banks Drive. A victim was transported to the hospital in stable condition. The suspect, who fled in a white BMW, was known to the victim, police said.
