There’s some good news for local foodies. Off the Grid, which organizes the weekly food truck market in El Cerrito, has reopened while observing COVID-19 safety protocols.
The food trucks roll into town from 5-8 p.m. every Wednesday night and park next to Ace Hardware at 6159 Fairmount Ave. in El Cerrito. Tonight, food purveyors including Southern Comfort Kitchen, Haley McNicoll’s Celtic American Eatery and Curveball Slider Truck are scheduled to serve their respective fare.
Word on the street has it that Southern Comfort Kitchen’s Crab Cajun Fries are a must-try.
As Off the Grid works to follow health safety guidelines, they are only featuring a few food trucks at this time and the onetime seating area is no longer available. The market is open for pick-up and take-home service only. According to Off the Grid, all food truck purveyors are following strict safety protocols such as wearing gloves and masks at all times, using contactless payments and frequently disinfecting guest-facing areas and surfaces.
For its part, Off the Grid is making hand sanitizer readily available to patrons, marking the ground with six foot social distancing tape, ensuring physical distancing is observed, and many other practices. To see the full list of COVID safety protocols at the market, click here.
