Richmond police investigator are working with the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office on trying to determine the cause of death of a woman in the Iron Triangle neighborhood.

The Coroner’s Office has identified the woman as Janice Session, 66, of Richmond.

Officers were called to a home in the area of Chanslor Avenue and 13th Street on a report of a homicide at 1:13 p.m. Monday, Richmond police Capt. Al Walle said. A caretaker had stopped by the home to check on Session and found her deceased, Walle said.

While investigators believed Session was murdered based on evidence located at the scene, the cause of her death has not yet been released and the case remains under investigation.
