CoBiz Richmond is teaming up with the Brothers of International Faith Inc. to host a grocery giveaway for the community on Wednesday, April 29.

Anyone in need can pick up a bag of food from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. (or until the last grocery bag is gone), at CoBiz, the new coworking space and business incubator at 1503 Macdonald Ave., next to the Richmond BART station.

Volunteers are sought to help with the event, including receiving food from the refrigerated trucks, packing grocery bags, setting up the space, food distribution and breaking down. Those interested in volunteering are asked to email Christina Kenney, community manager at CoBiz, at [email protected]

“We are all figuring out how to navigate these times,” Kenney said. “While COVID-19 makes us think about our own well-being and our own interests, it is important to understand that we can still be of service to others, despite our current circumstances – no matter who we are or how bad we may have it. With so much on all of us, our greatest challenge is our capacity to be human to each other in these times. Thank you to all who selfishly serve others each and every day.”

CoBiz Richmond is a project of the Chevron Richmond Refinery’s eQuip Richmond initiative, a multi-year $10 million investment that funds strategies to bolster communities in Richmond and North Richmond by encouraging small business development, preparing residents for the workforce and creating pathways to sustainable, living wages and careers in growth industries. Launched in November, CoBiz swiftly transitioned into a resource portal for community businesses, nonprofits and entrepreneurs trying to navigate the pandemic’s impacts.
