Do you know a family in extra need of assistance this coming holiday season?
Let them know: Sign-ups for the Richmond Fire and Police Holiday Toy & Food Program are set to take place Saturday, Nov. 2, starting at 8 a.m. at EM Downer Family YMCA, 263 S. 20th St. in Richmond.
All applications this year must be taken in person. Tickets will be provided on a first come, first served basis and registration will continue Saturday until all tickets are distributed.
The annual program provides food and toys for up to 1,200 families in Richmond.
To be eligible, parents or guardians must have a picture identification, and proof they reside in West Contra Costa County. The toy program is available to youth from birth to age 12.
See the flyer for more information.
City agencies, community organizations and local corporate sponsors including Chevron Richmond participate in the Richmond Fire & Police Holiday Program every year. The event is fueled by donations of toys to food barrels at fire and police stations citywide, along with monetary donations.
The holiday drive culminates a few days before Christmas with families picking up their donated items from volunteers at the EM Downer YMCA.
