Students at Verde Elementary in North Richmond are inviting the community to the unveiling this Saturday of two new completed art projects on the campus, and also to the Verde Family Fair.
The event starts Friday, actually, with a clean up event from 3-4 p.m. at the school at 2000 Giaramita St.
Then on Saturday, the Verde Family Fair will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the unveiling of the mosaic and mural art projects on the campus at 12:30 p.m. led by speeches from local leaders. The community is invited to take part.
The art projects include mosaics beautifying the bridge coming into campus and the mural, located on the side of the school’s front office building, highlights the rich history of North Richmond.
The projects were made possibly by a Public Art Mini Grant by the City of Richmond’s Arts and Culture Commission. The requirement to receive the grant was that staff engage students from preschool to 7th grade in the projects.
