RPD releases sketch of homicide suspect
Sketch released by the Richmond Police Department.

Richmond police have released the sketch of a suspect in a shooting in December that claimed the life of 45-year-old Edgar Osbaldo Jocal Chay.

The incident occurred at about 10:55 p.m., when Chay returned home to the 2500 block of Andrade Avenue, police said. He had just come from a store where he bought another suitcase for an upcoming trip to Guatemala, where he planned to see his mother for the first time in 10 years.

“When he got home he was confronted on his front porch by two suspects for an unknown reason,” police said. “There was a struggle between Chay and the suspects. During the course of the struggle, one of the suspects shot and killed Chay.

The suspects fled westbound on Andrade Ave. in a light colored four door car.

The shooter was described as a black man in his late 20s to early 30s, about 5-9, with an average build, unshaven with a mustache, police said. His sketch was released by RPD today. The only description of the other suspect is that he was a black male.
