Snapper’s Seafood Restaurant in Richmond plans to launch a food truck in February 2021 in order to “spread our passion for Louisiana-style seafood and chicken to a greater area,” owner Jabari Muhammed has announced.
“We will go to the people with our new food truck,” said Muhammed.
Fans of the popular restaurant that has operated at 1501 Ohio Ave. since 1992 can learn about future food truck locations by following its social media pages. The community is also encouraged to provide suggestions via social media on where the truck should park.
Snapper’s Seafood is known for its Louisiana-style fish, fried fish, fried chicken and fried oysters, alongside sides of greens, yams, potato salad and red beans and rice.
Business has remained steady despite the COVID-19 pandemic, and the restaurant has modified policies and procedures based upon public health guidelines, according to Muhammed. Launching a food truck in part aims to allow the restaurant to reach parts of the community wanting safe ways to access Snapper Seafood’s dishes, he said.
After the food truck’s launch, the restaurant will remain open to serve local customers, he said.
“We will also be available upon request to cater parties and events,” Muhammed said.
“Our community has continued to show our small business love over the last 25 plus years,” Muhammed said.
