To visit Point Richmond’s historic square is to walk through an art gallery. Not only will you find artwork in artist shops, they are also displayed in cafes, restaurants and even the Post Office.
Arts of Point Richmond announced two new exhibits this week and a third coming in March.
Unveiled this week are illustrations and paintings by the late Linda Lee Calvan Drake at El Sol Restaurant, 101 Park Place, as well as fused glass art by Bonnie Leonard at the Post Office, 101 Washington Ave.
And then from March 1 through April 30, visit Kaleidoscope Coffee at 101 Park Place to view artwork by Sharon Goods.
While you shouldn’t miss any of these exhibitions, there’s a particularly emotional connection to Drake’s exhibit, which includes works from her charming series called “Vintage Views of Old Point Richmond Town.” Drake served as president of Arts of Point Richmond from 2010 until her passing in 2013. Arts in Point Richmond partnered with Drake’s sister Josephine Orozco on this exhibit.
“It will showcase artworks by AOPR members, thanks to Josephine’s generosity and vision for the Arts,” the community organizations said. “A professional hanging system has been installed, funded by Arts of Point Richmond and a grant from the Gateway Foundation.”
