A robbery suspect was arrested in Richmond thanks in part to footage captured by Flock cameras, which record the license plates of passing vehicles and identify those that may have been linked to a crime.
The incident unfolded at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, when officers on routine patrol identified a wanted robbery suspect driving a vehicle, and confirmed the suspect’s vehicle from a previous incident using the Flock system.
Officers made the traffic stop, and the arrest, and then impounded the vehicle.
The suspect is believed to be involved in an attempted purse snatching about 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 14, when a thief attempted to steal a victim’s p urse while she was inside her car in the 200 block of 28th Street. The car window shattered during the attempted theft.
The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle that was later identified by Flock, leading to the arrest two weeks later.
