Two arrests were made in connection with a gunpoint robbery today of an elderly woman and a juvenile on Market Avenue in San Pablo, according to the San Pablo Police Department.
The elderly victim told police who responded to the scene that she heard someone run up behind her before a man forcibly pulled her gold necklace off her neck and pushed her, police said. The man then went up to a juvenile while holding a gun in his waistband and pulled her purse from her arm.
The man ran off on foot and a witness saw him take off in a yellow sports car. Minutes later, police spotted a car matching the description occupied by two men. The passenger matched the description of the suspect seen by witnesses, and officers also located the victim’s purse on the floorboard of the car, police said.
A black pistol, which turned out to be an airsoft gun, was found wedged between the passenger seat and door, according to police.
The passenger was positively identified as the main suspect and both men were arrested and transported to jail.
